The Dikton Mk.4 - a Rhino APC conversion (Part One)

The Imperium of Man is massive, encompassing worlds of every type, from agri-worlds of sprawling hydroponic fields to hive worlds of unimaginable squalor to feudal worlds, ruled over by petty kings who worship the sky-god. Over these thousands of planets, you would have thought there would be more than one vehicle for transporting the bloody Imperial Guard, right?

Inspired by Dave Taylor's awesome trucks (below) and my abject lack of money, I was driven to convert a spare Rhino I had lying around into an alternative APC.

There will be fluffings for this I assure you, hopefully in the same style as something in an Imperial Armour book but here I humbly present to you the first parts of the Dikton Mk.4 - the front-plate and the turret.

Any suggestions/criticisms/abuse would be very welcome indeed, leave me a comment!

Mantic Skeletons - a movement tray guide

Without wanting to sound like a Mantic Fanboy (whenever someone says that, it usually means "Brace for Fanboy") but I recently bought and painted some Mantic Skeletons. Now I'm not going to show off or brag about my painting of them because frankly it's mediocre. However something I've yet to see on the internet is an awesome idea for making movement trays; because the edges of the Mantic Bases are straight they can be glued together, like so:

As you can see the way the models come pre-mounted on their own little bases, because of this we can create blocks of the 20mm bases and still be able to remove the models when they (inevitably) die. You'll also be able to see that I've colour coded/numbered the bases but this is only because I'm really bad at posing things well enough to make them fit into a unit.

Basing is easy too! Simply paint the damn thing brown, fill the holes with Blu-Tac and glue that thing to kingdom come, then pour sand over it, paint it, take the Blu-Tac out and Voila! Movement tray that doesn't look awful.

It's also best to attach your bases to a little bit of plasticard for that extra bit of stability.

And finally some pictures of the finished things, not too shabby I don't think.

That's it folks, a simple (and probably unnecessary) guide on making movement trays out of Mantic Bases with just a little bit of plasticard, sand and glue.

Playing with Vassal

Vassal 40k is an awesome tool. IPhammered by GW, regretably they can't IPhammer my hard drive! Here's a little pic (colour scheme aside) of what my Army will look like when it's done. Woop!

Here goes nothing!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! Hell who am I kidding, 99% of us wargamers are Gentlemen. Hell, many of us aren't gentle. Anyway, I digress, welcome to this wonderful blog, in which I will paint models and make terrain poorly, make even poorer jokes and blabber on about tactics that have next to no relevance; I sincerely hope you enjoy this little escapade, I also hope it encourages me to actually do stuff.

This is Robb, over and out.
